Scotty Smiley became the Army's first blind activy duty officer in military history following a face to face confrontation with a suicide bomber in Iraq in 2005. Scotty wrote his book about his journey through overcoming adversity and now travels the country sharing his meesage of perseverance, courage and hope. Ever the adventurer, he has learned to surf, climbed Mt. Denali, and became and IronMan. He graduated from Duke with an MBA, won an ESPY, now works as an invenstment baker at Drexel Hamilton, is a regular guest on news networks such as NBC, CBS and Fox News, and has a documentary on Amazon Prime called "Beat Feet."
